Hybrid Grass a mixture of Artificial Grass and Real Grass
A carpet-style hybrid turf: an open mesh with a share of synthetic blades, soil and real grass. Natural grass grows through the openings, and roots lock into the mesh and the soil below.
What is the system
Hybrid grass rolls sit between a natural lawn and fully synthetic turf. Synthetic fibres take wear and keep the surface stable; living grass provides the look, cooling, and feel. An open backing so water, air, and roots can pass through.

Stage 1 — Starter roll
An open-mesh backing is placed on prepared soil. Synthetic “starter” blades stand up through the mesh. The finished surface, allows light and water to still reach the soil.
Stage 2 — Infill and seed
Sand-loam soil is brushed into the mesh to hold the synthetic blades upright and create a seedbed. Grass seed is sown into the infill (rate varies by species and climate).
Stage 3 — Grow and lock together
Sun and water germinate the seed. New roots grow through the open backing and into the soil, wrapping around the synthetic fibres. After several weeks the living grass dominates the surface; the synthetic blades stay as reinforcement.
Benefits
Stronger than ordinary grass on play areas, paths, dog runs, ideal for uneven grounds, mounds, hills etc.
Still a living surface: cooler than artificial grass, can be cut with a lawnmower.
Less excavation than a full artificial-turf stone base.
Roots through the mesh reduce the chance of movement, shrinkage, rippling.
Limits: it still needs water, mowing, and time to establish. If the living grass dies from drought or shade, you are left with a thin synthetic starter layer, needs more maintenance like a real lawn.
